PERMANENT RESIDENCE

Permanent Residents (PRs) have almost all of the privileges and benefits held by New Zealand citizens. They have the right to live, work and study anywhere in New Zealand as well as access to social services, healthcare, and protection under New Zealand law. PRs are able to leave and enter New Zealand borders using their New Zealand PR card or PR travel document. They must also meet specific residency obligations to maintain their status.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship New Zealand facilitates the entry of permanent residents (PR) in a way that maximizes their economic, social and cultural contribution to New Zealand while at the same time protecting the health, safety, and security of New Zealand.
